BIOGRAPHY

Norman Peplow strives for musical sensitivity and rhythmic clarity.

Born 1976 in North Rhine-Westfalia / Germany, is a jazz pianist and composer based in Cologne. Norman acclaimed his Master of Arts in jazz composition and his Diploma in Jazz piano from the prestigious Cologne University of Music and Dance, studying e.g. with John Taylor.

His musical expertise includes profound skills in Jazz piano, specializing in Latin American and Afro Cuban music as well as other global music styles. As a composer & arranger he is seamlessly blending diverse influences into unique musical expressions. As an active recording artist he appears on numerous releases.

As a sideman, Norman is continuously contributing to the success of various projects, collaborating and touring globally with established artists like Ana Carla Maza and Manou Gallo, the “Queen of Afro-Funk”. He is also founding member and composer for Marcando, one of Germany’s most sought-after small piece Salsa bands.

In his professional journey he has achieved recognition in renowned Jazz Festivals worldwide, including the JZ Jazz Festival Shanghai (w/ Cubop City Big Band), Ollin-Kan Festival Mexico City (w/ Yuliesky González Kind of Cuban), Jazz Sous Les Pommiers (w/ Ana Carla Maza & Manou Gallo) Borneo Jazz Festival Malaysia (w/ KLAZZ Brothers) and Jazzfestival Burghausen (w/ Ana Carla Maza).

Besides of that he has been invited to be part of backing bands for artists like La INDIA, Mayito, Joe Bataan & Orquesta Guayacán.

As composer & arranger Norman writes as well for projects where he is an active member as for other projects across the board such as Cubop City Big Band, Melane or even for a renowned Cologne carnival  association „Luftflotte“.

Although his writing is mostly intended for live playing groups he has also done some work for movies and documentaries.

As a (band)leader he is currently expanding his own musical language, striving for an individual expression and the desire to connect the different musical worlds he encountered.

His „Panamerican Project“ combines the (musical) experiences he made in between the sounding worlds of jazz, global and latin american styles.
